Get the Look - Anna Sui Fall 2009 ready-to-wear

So it begins. I'll be the first to say I'm hardly rich. I'm an unemployed sixteen-year-old, from a very middle-class background. More than enough to get by with a few little treats along the way, but not enough to splurge on something designer and wonderful. That said, I do my best to find something affordable if I like a style, and I hope if this thing ever gets any readers that they can enjoy too.

Oh, and I'm also British. Sorry rest of the world, but unless you're prepared to fork out for shipping (word of advice: don't), this probably isn't going to be much help.

Anna Sui Fall 2009 ready-to-wear

I tend to be somewhat neutral about Anna Sui's designs as they like to dance across the line between classy, eccentric and just plain old. (It's a pretty peculiar line, I'll admit.) That said, I feel that this line is pretty stunning in general. The theme works well (and makes the romantic in me squeal in delight), and uses silhouettes that can (maybe) be pulled off by those of us who aren't tall, skinny and gorgeous. (I am none of these and it tears me up inside. Oh well.) I was originally planning to do all the pieces, in order. Well, thanks to my own laziness and blogspot's slightly frustrating image uploading, both of those have gone out the window.

Let's begin!

The amount of detail in that skirt is wonderful. (Tragically, once your eyes find that little loose bit in the bust they can't look away. Bad eyes

I really like the colour choice here. It gives such a modern edge to the mock-old clothes.

She's wearing the remains of other dresses that she's viciously ripped apart. I can't see this in any other way. (Let's give her her dues. She rips very neatly.)

I so want to like this. I just can't.

This is a fun, cute dress. Love the bodice.

But this is a more fun, cuter dress. So nice.

And this is pretty excellent. I wouldn't wear them together, but the jacket, boots and skirt are all extremely rocking.

This is a hell of a look. I'll leave it at that. (Okay; I can't. It looks like a set of pirate pyjamas.)

It elongates the torso a bit more than I'd like, but at the same time... socute. The colours are gorgeously vibrant, and the fit looks very flattering.

I'm torn on this. The design is so cool, but I'm stuck trying to figure out if I'd like it if I saw someone wearing it as opposed to seeing it walk down the runway.

This is possibly my favourite piece. *covets*

Cute. So much dark colour in one place does nothing though, it needs to be paired with something lighter.

I think the ruffles really make this piece. I'm pretty neutral on the jacket, though. I can see how it's nice, but at the same time the texture makes it look oddly bulky.

That shirt is insane and I want it. But really, out of this whole outfit, only the shirt is remotely wearable. The belt does nothing, and jogpurs are reserved for people without thighs.

Ee. This dress is so cute, with just enough contrast between the black and the floral pattern to make it a bit different. The sleeves and the shoulders are flattering, and gothic while still being very dainty. I wouldn't have paired it with the black tights though. Just a bit too much black going on there.

Eh. I like the idea behind this, and I suppose I like it more than I dislike it, but the sleeves are distracting and don't really add anything to the outfit. Plus it gives the poor model man shoulders.

That skirt is gorgeous. The jacket is nice, but I feel like it's one of those things that has to be really expensive just so it doesn't look cheap. (The boots! The boots!!)

If I had a pair of velvet pants that nicely fitted, I would wear them pretty often. Tragically, the cardigan is the focus of this outfit and it seems like a good deal of the detail is lost.

I like lace, but it can look just too old on younger people. I think the fits of these clothes make them much more youthful, and if I was rich enough to own that skirt I would rock it at every possible opportunity.

It may just be an awkward photo, but between the dress and almost dance-y pose this looks pretty folksy. The dress is too shapeless for me to get behind, but the fabric is gorgeous.

And that's all I could be bothered to do! (I'm such a bad girl.) Next up; how to attempt to imitate these largely lovely pieces for much more lovely prices.
